Mission Statement

We recognize the diagnosis and treatment of cancer have a tremendous physical and emotional impact on the patient and family.

Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center assists those with cancer at all stages of their illness and helps families and friends cope with cancer in their lives. Our goal is to provide emotional support and guidance for people with cancer, family members and health professionals.

History of Wings of Hope

The concept of Wings of Hope began in October 1987 as a monthly cancer group. A group of people who had been affected by cancer met to discuss issues concerning living with cancer, and began to learn from each other ways to improve their quality of life.

As the group grew, it became apparent many people shared this need to find a way to express their emotions about cancer, but not all of them were willing to do this in a group setting. A steering committee was formed to begin to explore how this concept could be expanded to provide more comprehensive services for people with cancer as well as their family members.

Out of this grew Wings of Hope, a cancer support center where people with cancer, family members, and health professionals can go to find the emotional support and guidance they need to thrive and move forward in their cancer experience. In September 1994, the center was independently established as a non-profit organization and opened an office.
